Sunday afternoon - Lunch with the family followed by Lizzy and Gavin's birthday party! There's nothing like seeing a bunch of 2-4 year olds running around hyped up on sugar!

"Hot pockets!"
#27 - Day 205 & 207: Staining Concrete
Floor prepped, baseboards & walls masked, and it was finally time for the stain!
The directions suggested applying the stain with a power sprayer. I didn't feel like shelling out the cash to buy or rent a sprayer, so I tried something else. I had read in other DIY blogs that stain could be applied with rollers or brushes. I applied the 1st coat with a roller and this is what I came up with.
Hello streaks!
Not what I was going for!
A couple days later, I went for the 2nd coat. I took the manufacturer's advice and sprayed the stain on this time. Still not wanting to buy/rent a power sprayer, I just cleaned out an old spray bottle and used that. The stain was the consistency of water, so the spray bottle worked great. The process took a lot longer (and caused more hand cramps) than a power sprayer would have, but I saved myself $50-100.
It's hard to see the details of the stain unless you look closely, but I got the look I wanted to achieve. The spray bottle definitely did the trick.
High fives for not painting myself into a corner!
#27 - Day 204

Top: Forever21
Pants: New York & Company
Heels: Steve Madden
Tricky thing about documenting outfits - you don't always like the photos. It's pretty awkward posing in front of a camera, so when you look like a goof in all the pics, what do you do? You post bits and pieces of the outfit!
#27 - Day 203
#27 - Day 202
June 22, 2009
Top: Ross
Pants: Kohl's
Belt: Betsey Johnson
Watch: Forever21
Heels: Rue21
Black and white's not very exciting for summer, so adding the bright yellow belt added a pop of color this outfit needed. Adding a belt also gave the top a little bit of shape.

#27 - Day 192
My job requires me to wear khakis and Polos almost every day. Not really my style. It's really pointless even try to look nice when I spend hours on hot roofs, sweating and getting dirty. It's so hard to feel girlie and pretty when this is the routine.
As a way of boosting my girlie self-esteem, I have decided to document my outfits for the next month. I'm not going to want to post photos of me looking haggard and blah, so I'll have to force myself to wear fun (hopefully cute) stuff. At the end of this month, the femininity will be surging through my veins and people will be able to smell it from miles away.
June 12, 2009
Outfit:
Scarf: Garden Ridge (Who would have thought?)
Shirt: Hanes for Men, Target
Skirt: Forever21
Shoes: Steve Madden
Bracelet: Forever21
No roofs today! Work consisted of a meeting and paperwork, so skirt and heels it was! People rarely wear dress pants to my office, let alone skirts, so I decided to dress the skirt down by pairing it with an ultra casual men's white undershirt.
P.S. Pockets on dresses/skirts increase their awesomeness factor twofold.

#14 - Go Rock Climbing
How amazing would it be if I could do this? Hanging by my fingertips, crashing waves below, hair blowing in the wind. Ummm... how about replacing the waves with soft grass and wrapping ropes and a harness around my waist? I think I could handle that!
I don't know anyone that is into rock climbing, so I don't really know how I'd get into it. I could always start off doing indoor rock climbing and then work my way up to Mt. Everest :).
Having climbing skills could be of great benefit to me. It would build great strength in my hands. Go ahead and push me off a skyscraper - I could hold on to the edge until some kind person came to pull me up. (Well, unless of course whoever pushed me decided to stomp on my hands. Then I would just be screwed.) If I was ever on the Real World/Road Rules challenge, I would totally dominate - they always have some kind of climbing challenge. By the way - why do they even consider it a Road Rules challenge? Didn't they stop doing Road Rules in 1997? Did anyone even watch Road Rules?
So if anyone wants to join me/teach me how to climb, I'd love it/you!

#27 - Day 187
New shoes. Tried to break them in during a couple hours of shopping. Not the best idea.
It's all OK though... they looked fab with the vintage dress I was wearing.
