Insurance adjuster tip #45:
If you have a big [dead] tree in your yard, cut it down.
This is what happens when those dead limbs come crashing down on your roof.

#27 - Day 231

#27 - Day 230

I wanted an old farmhouse-style table for my new dining room, but all the ones I found were way more than I wanted to spend. My dad enjoys building things, so I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he said he would give it a shot. Here it is - almost finished! Just needs a coat of sealer and then it's on its way to my house! I'm so excited! It's EXACTLY what I wanted - my dad's the best!

#27 - Day 228: Antique Shopping Find of the Day

Where: Apple Tree Antiques - Bethany, OK
What: Life-sized Shaq Cardboard cut-out

If anyone wants this AMAZING find, I'm sure it's still available. After all, it's been there for as long as I can remember... I don't know why anyone hasn't snatched it up after all these months.

#27 - Day 221: For the birds...

Little birds around my house...

Hoping my little collection doesn't turn into an obsession...

Although, how funny would it be to be known as the crazy bird lady?
I could get bird paintings and bed sheets and toilet seat covers and even hit up the local taxidermist for some stuffed birds and have them hanging from my ceiling like they were flying...

Wait. Scratch that idea.

That's a little too creepy. I draw the line with animal carcasses.

#27 - Day 220: Happy Birthday Drew!

#27 - Day 219: Murphy's Dueling Piano Bar

Keytar!

Happy birthday Johnny!
"But you say he's just a friend..."

#27 - Day 218

This is what Copper looked like the whole evening after his buddy Pepper went back home.

I almost got him a doggy Zoloft.

#27 - Day 217: Fabulous find!

Found these great chairs by my neighbor's curb for Big Trash Day.

I've never done a big reupholster job, so this is going to be a fun and interesting DIY project. I took a lot of photos while I was stripping it down to the frame, so hopefully I'll be able to put everything back with the new fabric!

I found some lovely goodies while I was tearing them apart... Cheetos, popcorn, a dime, bobby pins, and a magazine ad for cologne. I'm really tempted to find random stuff or write a note and place them in chairs and sofas at thrift stores. It's like a time capsule only cooler cause you wouldn't have any clue how long the things have been in there. Is this Oreo 6 months old or 60 years old? You'll never know...

#27 - Day 216

Found this little bench during my weekly run to the antique stores in Bethany. It had been newly reupholstered, but I just did not like the weird fabric choice.

I sanded off the finish on the wood, restained it, and put new fabric on the seat.

#27 - Day 211

July 1, 2009

Dress: Ross
Cardigan: H&M
Belt: Thrifted
Bracelets: Forever21
Heels: Steve Madden

A few months ago I received my license to sell home & auto insurance. I am in the transition period of making that my full-time career, but right now I am just doing it in the evenings after working all day as an insurance adjuster. The dress code at the agency office is all business. On one of my first days there I was advised that the manager is pretty conservative and would basically think differently of me if he saw my tattoo in the office. My tat is on an easy place to hide and I am totally cool with covering it up... except for when it's 100+ degrees outside! Hello sweat - Ick!

P.S. Once I have my own office for my agency, my 1st day there I am going to wear something SLEEVELESS! I don't care if it's the middle of winter! And before I make someone cover up a tattoo, I will check to see if it's going to be inappropriate or not. Bird on the forearm - OK. A kitten-eating-zombie riding a Vespa with Hitler - Not so much.

#27 - Day 210

June 30, 2009

Top: Old Navy
Tank: H&M
Shorts: Levi's
Shoes: Ross
Necklaces: 1 Forever21, 2 self-made
Sunnies: Forever21

I made it my mission to find a rug and some chairs for my house. Comfort is key when you have an afternoon of shopping ahead of you, so shorts and flats it is! I hit up Pier 1, Ross, and every thrift & antique store in the Bethany/NW OKC area. My goal was not accomplished - sad day. Thank goodness there is online shopping! I found this one on anthropologie.com, I like this blue one and this one from overstock.com. Decisions decisions!

So cute.
